Such valuable lessons indeed for ppl to stand out in the crowd. One of the things I always look for when hiring too. Not what school you went to, not what diploma you’ve got. What did you do when no one asked you to do anything. What lessons did you learn.
Especially nowadays when things moving so fast, a university can’t keep approving books fast enough to get them into the curriculum, because by the time they are approved they are already outdated.
Or don’t get me started about “professors teaching entrepreneurship” without ever having started a business themselves.
If you want to stand out, you need to put in the work to stand out.
I once had an applicant interview and in addition to being qualified, he had a homemade "SEO" puzzle where they were put together in the background of our call.
You can't fake that level of dorkiness -- and its exactly what I want on my (clients) teams.
Nope I also remember years ago some ad guy in NY wanted to get a new job so he bought Google Ads for the names of the CEOs of the big agencies in town, thinking rightfully so they would be vain enough to Google their own name now and then.
Hired a developer once that didn’t like his previous career and decided to get a bachelor in computer science in the evening hours after work and finished his bachelor with honors.
