Thank you for putting this out there - I so feel this. It seems that when you get 40-50 automated outreach attempts per day via email, LinkedIn, DMs, it overwhelms our brains and makes legitimate connections easier to ignore. I worry that I've been guilty of ghosting without fully taking responsibility for following up. Thanks for the reminder.
I don't blame any one person/company for this. I, too, don't hide from "ghosting". However, I will fully admit that if you send me spam, i'm never responding. If you asked questions or we had a few back and forwarths, if its getting too access and they obviously just want free help, I will send a kind note attempting to end the thread... but i'll ignore or prioritize a response at the bottom of my never ending "to-dos"
I can't help but feel with this post that I come off as the school teacher sharing "treat everyone the way you want to be treated." Which is exactly why I had to add the truth bomb towards the bottom of the post.
